The White Sox are throwing in the towel on this season? Jim Thome & Jose Contreras traded!

Growing up a White Sox fan and having all the great seasons they have had lately which includes finally winning a World Series for the 1st time in forever my freshmen year of college in 2005 it's said to see something like this.

I think we all pretty much know with as great as the White Sox have played this year after having such an awful last few weeks to past month of this season there season was pretty much inevitable over even though they aren't mathematically alimented from playoff contention yet.

What makes it even hard to stomach is they played so well throughout most of the season to be in contention and have just faltered so much in the time I have mentioned that it came down to this. The White Sox lost 4-1 to our archival Minnesota Twins 4-1 in Minnesota Monday night in a game they easily could have won that dropped them 6 games behind Detroit in the AL Central division, 2 1/2 behind dreaded Minnesota and virtually out of the AL Wild Card race. But it has been hard for us to win in Minnesota in forever which then again makes it no surprise.

But after the loss General Manager Ken Williams pretty much threw in the towel on what has been a tough last few weeks of the season of what started of as a promising 2009 season by trading fan favorites Jim Thome and Jose Contreras respectively to the Dodgers and Rockies for minor league players and cash considerations.

Manager Ozzie Guillen seems to still have hope for the team though as he stressed for them to "Keep fighting" as he put it when quoted after the game. "We're not in a great spot, but we're better off than a lot of people. Keep fighting, believe in themselves, believe we can do this. I think the talent is out there. We have a lot of talent.

"Go out there and play hard. Play as hard as they can for one month and see what happens."

So I would like to get other Sox fans opinions on what they think and if they think the season truly is now done for the team after this? I would also like to end this by saying good luck to Thome to who was a great player for us and hopefully he could finally win that ring he wanted playing for a contender like the Dodgers.
