YouTube recently launched its movie rental service enabling users to view a small selection of films for a nominal charge, and it seems that the site is looking to expand the service to regular users.
The new plan will enable YouTube users to monetize their videos by charging viewers to view their uploaded clips. It means that users should be able to cash in on potential 'viral' hits.
The pay-per-view system is a distinct move away from the current YouTube Partnership Program, which allows some pre-selected users to share advertising revenue with parent company Google.
Walk explained to MediaPost that the service would 'be coming soon', though
