Chris Rock has recently run into bad news regarding new film "Good Hair", about the sociology and culture of the Black hair business. Regina Kimball is suing Rock for copyright infringement for $5million. Kimball has a similar film, 'Nappy Roots' (2005), that she allegedly screened for Rock and she claims there are several strong similarities between the two films. Both films feature celebrities sharing their own hair stories, feature interviews with medical professionals, show visits to manufacturing plants as well as many other parallelisms. Kimball claims in her suit that Doug Miller, executive producer of "Good Hair", requested a screening of her film with Rock two years ago and that she asked Miller to sign a non-disclosure agreement with respect to the film prior to showing them her film and he said he would. But Kimball states that after her film was shown, he refused to sign the agreement. Kimbell is suing for copyright infringement, unfair competition and fraud and deceit among her complaints. Chris Rock has currently not made any public comments to the media regarding the lawsuit and as of Oct. 7, 2009, his publicist told Access Hollywood that he had "No comment." regarding the suit and Kimball's allegations against him.
